Korean Traditional Alcohol

Korean cuisine has a wide variety of traditional alcoholic drinks, known as sul. Many of these drinks end with the Sino-Korean word -ju, and some end with the native Korean word -sul. The Sino-Korean -ju is not used as an independent noun.

Seoul Night Soju (서울의밤) 23% abv.

Seoul Night is created to fit the modern palate of soju drinkers. Double distillation of golden maesil captures pleasant floral plum flavors with dry aftertaste then cold-filtration provides clean flavors with smooth texture. 

Seoul Night will take your soju game to the next level.

We suggest to serve this spirit chilled or on the rocks with splash of soda or tonic water.

Won Mae Plum Liqueur (원매) 13% abv.

Won Mae is a maesil liqueur made with Korean golden plum harvested at its peak of ripeness. Most people know asian plum as green plum however when this plum ripens, it turns golden color and develop natural sweetness with more fragrance.

After maceration, local honey from Jeju island is added to give round texture and subtle sweetness. It is refreshing and light with expression of abundant wild flowers and exotic tropical fruits.

Yangchon Brewery has been operating in Nonsan since 1920.  This brewery is considered one of the oldest operating breweries in Korea.

At present, the 3rd generation in operation and 4th generation is learning to continue the legacy. This brewery is using organic rice grown by utilizing snails in the rice fields that help eliminates herbicides.

Chungju was brewed with rice that was grown without using herbicides by utilizing a method of releasing snails in rice field. 

This chungju has golden-amber color with abundant savory notes such as fermented soy, cheese rinds and mushroom. It has touch of natural sweetness that gives round texture.

This Chungju can be paired with robust flavored dishes such as BBQ, beef stir-fry and even spicy foods. We would suggest to serve chilled in white wine glasses to bring out the complexity.

Golden Barley Soju (황금보리) White Label 17% abv.

Golden Barley Soju was crafted to express complexity and unique flavor of premium quality heirloom barley. Using 100% of golden barley grown by sustainable agriculture practice, this soju showcases excellent body and smooth texture with fragrant stone fruit and subtle grain notes.

Golden Barley White Label is proofed down to 17% abv. to make it approachable and sessionable spirits. It is light and refreshing with crisp plum and snappy gingerbread spice finish. Best enjoyed chilled straight or on the rocks.

Dong Hak (동학) 13% abv.

Dong Hak consists of high quality domestic rice and is aged by freezing

and filtering at a low temperature. Its uses a traditional yeast made special for

fermentation and is know for its lively flavor of rice. Once you sip, it begins with a lightness and soon ends with a soft sweetness and unique acidity of rice. It is a well

balanced and all rounded alcohol.

Dong Hak consists of high quality domestic rice and is aged by freezing and filtering at a low temperature.

In 2018, it was selected as the official celebratory drink of the Pyeongchang
Winter Olympics.

Nimome (니모메) 11% abv.

Nimome consists of rice, volcanic rock water, and tangerine peels, all from Jeju
Island. The tangerine peels are dried to bring out the best of the scent and

taste of Jeju's local tangerines, specifically harvested at the perfect time of the season. Along with the savory taste of grain and bitterness of alcohol, the sutle

hint of tangerines complete this unique yakju from Jeju.

Nimome is a Jeju dialect that means "in your heart"; it represents the kind &

sharing spirit of the Jeju people. It is made from fresh tangerines harvested from Jeju Island.

Jangsu Omijaju (오미자 주) 16.5% abv.

Jangsu Omijaju is produced in collaboration by young brewers and experts with more than 30 years of fermentation experience. The winery aimed to revive the five flavors of the omija, or magnolia berry: sour, bitter, spicy, sweet, and salty. It is produced by adding alcohol to the omija wine that has been aged for three years.
Although you can taste the sweetness at first, the astringent and bitter taste soon passes by.

Jangsu Omijaju cotains omija wine that has been aged for 3 years.
The winery revived the five flavors of the omija: sour, bitter, spicy, sweet, and

salty.

Lee Gang  Ju 19 abv. 19% (375ml)

The famous Lee Gang Ju is one of three representative spirits of the Joseon Dynasty. The main ingredients of distillation are Pear (Lee) and Ginger (Gang),
along with turmeric, cinnamon, and honey. These specific ingredients, all thought of as having medicinal properties, help with sobering up and detoxing the liver.
Lee Gang Ju starts with a spicy scent of cinnamon and wraps the taste buds with the crisp and mild sweetness of the pear and ginger. Soon, it finishes with a clean aftertaste.

Lee Gang Ju is designated as North Jeolla Province's Local Intangible Cultural Property No.6 in 1987.
It is one of three representative spirits of the Joseon Dynasty.

Kimpo Yeaju abv. 13% (750ml)

Kimpo Yeaju is made of the golden rice grown in the city of Gimpo. 'Kimpo'
does not refer to the city, but means a store that handles and sells gold.

'Yeaju' means delicious liquor. As the Brewery crafts Kimpo Yeaju with domestic golden rice, the name suggests the brewery's hopes of delivering a delicious liquor that is as valuable as gold. The Golden drink has a subtle sweetness that is clear and smooth, making it easier to enjoy.
